Kyle Siskron is a 2017 graduate from the Altoona Area High School. Kyle performed on flute for Altoona's concert band, wind ensemble, Pit Orchestra, Talent Show, and the Altoona Community Band. He played piccolo for Altoona's marching band and pep band. Kyle also played string bass in Altoona's orchestra, string ensemble, and jazz band.
He has qualified for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Band, where he sat first chair. Kyle has also qualified for PMEA Regional Band, PMEA District Orchestra, PMEA Region Orchestra, PMEA All-State Orchestra, Penn State University's Honors Wind Ensemble, and PSU's Honors Orchestra.
In 2016, Kyle performed on flute and bass with the PMEA Region Chorus and has played at churches, nursing homes, and in pit orchestras. Kyle also led a flute quartet made up of four flute players from the Altoona Area High School.
On top of the many music-related activities Kyle has participated in, he was involved in the Performing Arts Club, where he worked his way up to student director. He was in the foreign language club and participated in the APPLES foreign language competition, where he took home a few awards for his musical talent and academic success.
Kyle currently studies Music Education at Penn State University and plans on graduating in 2021. At Penn State, Kyle performs on flute in the Symphonic Concert Band, led by Dennis Glocke. He has also played piccolo for the Penn State Concert Band and performed on bass for the Penn State Campus Orchestra.
Kyle has performed in multiple pit orchestras. He has played Into the Woods, Young Frankenstein, Annie, Cabaret, and many more shows! He also has student directed Into the Woods.
Kyle's senior project was a benefit concert that supported the Central PA Humane Society. Kyle had many students participate and raised an abundance of food and supplies and over $400!
Kyle believes that teachers are tour guides. Teachers help students see what is exciting in the world. They expose them to and adventures and let them decide what they’d like to pursue further. Kyle also believes that learners are seedlings who blossom into a tree full of knowledge as they age.
